Cheval Blanc 1992

Chateau Cheval Blanc

25 years

A light-bodied, shallow wine for this great estate, the 1992 Cheval Blanc displays a vanillin-dominated nose with berry, jammy, herb, and coffee notes. There is not much depth, body, or length. Drink it over the next 4-5 years as the hard tannin in the finish suggests that this wine will dry out quickly. *** Note: No 1991 was produced under the Cheval Blanc label. * The 1992 will remind long-time readers of the light, soft, shallow 1973. Although there are some attractive berry, jammy, herb, and coffee notes in the nose, there is not much depth, body, or length. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Chateau Cheval Blanc

Chateau Cheval Blanc is a premier wine estate based in Bordeaux, France, located on the right bank in the Saint Emilion Region. The French words ‘Cheval Blanc’ translate to ‘White Horse Castle’, and as of 2012 the prestigious wine producer is only one of four to be classified as Premier Grand Cru Classe (A) in the Saint Emilion classification of wine.

The winery also produces a second wine labeled Le Petit Cheval, also a top rated wine in the industry. The vineyard is renowned for having three distinct characteristics: Pomerol, due to its location right on the boundary, Graves due to the soil composition (gravelly soil) and the remainder is drawn from Saint Emilion.
