Duhart Milon 1993

Chateau Duhart Milon

24 years

This dark ruby/purple-colored, medium-bodied, pretty wine exhibits moderate tannin, an elegant style, and soft, pleasant fruit. Although neither substantial nor powerful, it is a well-made wine with good balance. Drink it over the next 8-9 years. *** Readers should keep an eye on Duhart-Milon as the Rothschilds are clearly attempting to upgrade the quality, as well as image of this Pauillac. For example, 57% of the harvest was eliminated from Duhart's 1993 and no Merlot made it into the final blend. The result is a strong Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine with a textbook lead pencil, herb, cedar, and cassis nose. With excellent ripeness, richness, and definition, this medium-bodied wine reveals well-integrated tannin that is neither astringent nor vegetal. This impressive, classically-rendered Pauillac should age well for 15+ years. It may merit a higher rating with additional bottle age.
