Le Clarence de Haut Brion 2013

Le Clarence de Haut Brion - Chateau Haut Brion

4 years

The second wine of Haut-Brion, the 2013 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion, is a blend of 57% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc. It is better than its nearby rival, the second wine of La Mission Haut-Brion, La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion, because it is more charming and has plenty of black currant, cherry and plum-like fruit. It has good color, not a lot of tannin, structure or density, but does have the Graves-like minerality one expects from this appellation. It is meant to be drunk in its exuberant youthfulness and thus should be consumed in its first 7-8 years of life.

Le Clarence de Haut Brion - Chateau Haut Brion

Le Clarence de Haut Brion is the second wine of the world renowned Chateau Haut Brion - a French wine production estate of the highest grade; its premier wine Haut Brion is classified as Premier Cru Classe (First Growth). The winery is situated in Talence, in the North of the wine growing region of Graves. The Primary wine of Chateau Haut Brion is the only wine of the five first growths that falls under the Pessac-Leognan appellation.

Le Clarence de Haut Brion has only carried this name since the vintage 2007 as it was formerly known as Bahans Haut Brion. Additionally, this prestigious Chateau also produces a dry white referred to as Haut Brion Blanc, and a further dry white wine labeled Les Plantiers du Haut Brion, relabeled as La Clarte de Haut Brion since the 2008 vintage.
