Chateau Pontet Canet

Considerable pink and amber at the edge suggests full maturity. The nose shows notes of old wood intermixed with red currants, mushrooms, and cedar. The wine is medium-bodied, elegant, but relatively short. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 9/02. *** An elegant, tasty, stylish wine, the 1985 Pontet-Canet is well colored, with a moderately intense black currant, toasty oak bouquet. While not nearly as concentrated as the 1986, it should still evolve nicely. Anticipated maturity: Now-2001. Last tasted, 4/90.
