The 1985 is a very good Sauternes for the vintage - rich, round, open-knit, with a great deal of juicy, sweet, candied fruit - but the absence of botrytis results in a wine lacking in complexity and coming across as plump and succulent, but not terribly interesting. Anticipated maturity: Now-2001. Last tasted, 1/93.
